WHAT TO EXPECT

How Long Appointments Take

Please allow the following time for each appointment type

Initial Examination – 45 minutes
Records – 20 minutes
Initial Bonding – 60-90 minutes
Adjustment Appointments – 20 minutes
Debonding - 60 to 90 minutes

Appointment Times

We know that getting to the Orthodontist while juggling school and work is not always easy. Since 90% of your appointments during treatment are routine adjustment visits, we try our best to offer afternoon appointments to work around your schedule for the majority of your appointments. We are able to do this because we reserve our longer appointment slots for the middle hours of the day. The longer appointments are usually more technique-sensitive and we want to make sure you have Dr. Sood’s and our hygienist’s undivided attention during these appointments, especially if something is broken or loose.

Scheduling Appointments

Visiting our office approximately every six to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment. To work with your schedule, we can offer before and after school appointment times in addition to regular work hours.

Something Broken or Loose

If you notice that part of your braces feels broken or loose, please call to notify us before your appointment, at least 24 hours before, but the sooner the better. We’ll help determine whether or not it’s something that requires an earlier visit to address. Unfortunately if you are scheduled for a routine adjustment appointment and you do not notify us of something broken or loose, we may not have time to repair the issue at that same appointment. Please keep us informed.

Late Arrivals

We respect your valuable time and do our best to run on schedule. To serve each patient in a prompt and efficient manner, we ask that you arrive on time for your appointment. If you are late for an appointment, we ask that you see one of our front office staff members to determine if you can be rescheduled the same day or if you will need to be rescheduled to another day.

Missed Appointments

Successful orthodontic treatment requires a series of scheduled appointments throughout treatment. It is in the patient’s best interest to reschedule a missed appointment as soon as possible. If you’ve missed an appointment, please contact our office immediately and we will work with you to reschedule your missed appointment at our earliest convenience. Please note that in case of missed appointments, a fee will be charged to your account.

Rescheduling

We understand that schedules change, and we will do our best to accommodate our patients’ busy schedules. Please call our office as soon as you know that you are going to have to reschedule your appointment. If we are not notified of a reschedule at least 48 hours in advance, we consider that a missed appointment.
